The 2023 Dundee Hills Pinot Noir captures the essence of its celebrated appellation with a seductive bouquet of ripe plum, ocean breeze, warm spices, and a hint of cocoa. The grapes for this single-varietal Blaufränkisch come from biodynamically farmed vineyards characterized by limestone and slate in and near Jois on the slopes of the Leitha Mountains. The 2019 vintage is charming and captivates with its scent of blackberries, blueberries, forest floor and some juniper and pepper. At the same time, its aroma bears witness to a floral freshness reminiscent of ivy and eucalyptus.
The 2023 Block Nine Pinot is beautifully long and rich in ripe cherry and berry flavors. The aromas exhibit generous bright fruit with a mix of strawberry, violets, plum, tea, and a hint of clove. The 2018 Michael Pozzan Pinot Noir has a gorgeously enticing nose, with aromas of rose petal, violets, cranberries and sarsaparilla. In the mouth, the wine’s luscious, smooth tannins carry flavors of rich red plum and orange peel, with a vein of warm baking spices like nutmeg, clove, cardamom, and vanilla running throughout. The lengthy finished is perfumed with Tahitian vanilla bean.
The 2021 Seven Springs Pinot Noir is a joyful wine. An immediate impression of purity and elegance greets the drinker as bright red fruits mingle with notes of crushed red roses, black tea, and a touch of forest floor. The wine’s joyful exuberance is most evident on the palate, where deftly integrated tannins give way to a beautiful and bright acidity.
On the nose, the 2021 Dundee Hills Pinot Noir shows notes of black cherry and raspberry accompanied by leather. On the palate, the fruit remains the same but is joined by black pepper and clove.
